History of BFRB Retreats

Christina Pearson hosted the first BFRB retreat over 30 years ago after single-handedly founding the world’s first organization for BFRBs in order to give a voice to this uncharted arena of human suffering, bringing together a community that was previously isolated, suffering in silence. Since then, retreats have been held to bring together fellow sufferers of BFRBs for healing, learning, recovery, connection and celebration.

BFRB Retreats are fun, informative and restorative! Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned retreatant, what we gain from our time together is priceless.

Pictured is a group of retreat participants in 2019 above a photo of a few of those same retreat participants 13 years prior (in 2007). All of those participants have become what Christina Pearson (and now all of us) refer to as our family of heart, there for each other and able to empathize with the common suffering we experience. We have found that by building community that know firsthand what we struggle with, we are able to heal a part of ourselves that felt so isolated by our behaviors.

BFRB Retreats give us the opportunity to show up exactly as we are.

Many of us grew up with a fear of being seen and discomfort being in our own skin. Through the process of healing that occurs while attending a retreat, we often learn after finding our footing, we are unafraid to be seen by those who empathize with us and that makes us feel free. We hope to share this experience with you, if you are ready and willing to have it with an open mind and a loving heart.
